About the Band

Established in 1946, the Band is one of the longest active pipe bands in Tasmania. We offer a free tuition program and encourage new members in both pipes and drums. The band comes under the leadership of Pipe Major Garry Fletcher. The Band is active in community-based events throughout the year, including ANZAC Day marches, Hobart Christmas pageant, monthly performances at Salamanca Markets, and regional fairs. The Band was awarded Tasmania Grade 4 Champions at the St Andrew Society Richmond Highland Gathering Pipe Bands Tasmania competitions in 2018 and 2019. The Band has also attended competitions in Victoria, attaining third place overall in grade 4 at Daylesford (2009) and Ringwood (2011).
